Once again this episode starts off with 3 years in the future. Bonnie is surprisingly in therapy, talking about mistakes she's made. She talks about being heartbroken about someone she lost. She tells her doctor that she is to blame. Then the most surprising thing happens. Bonnie leaves therapy and goes to the arms of her lover. Enzo. Yes. I typed that right. They are madly in love in 3 years. Even though now they can't stand each other. It's the weirdest combination ever. But kind of adorable.

At the end of the last episode Jo is brought back from the dead. And now she's alive and back in Alaric's life. But something is off. Jo doesn't remember who she is. But Alaric is unbelievably happy anyway and helps her as much as he can.

We find out what exactly is going on when Bonnie visits Oscar. Bonnie borrows the stone from Alaric, because she's skeptical over the way Jo is acting. She goes the the Salvatore house to attempt to talk to Oscar. It's strange to see her interact with Enzo because we now know they eventually fall in love. So it's a little funny watching them argue. How in the world do these two enemies turn into love birds?

Anyway, she finally confronts Oscar but he isn't exactly in the mood for conversation. He freaks out and screams "Why does everybody keep calling me Oscar?!" We eventually find out the truth about his stone.

The Phoenix stone doesn't bring people back from the dead. The pink stone has old evil vampires trapped inside. And when you use the stone on a corpse one of the evil vampire's soul is put into the body. What??? I was not expecting this at all. I'm usually really good at guessing what is going to happen next. But not with this stone.

So after Bonnie finds out the truth about the stone, she goes to tell Damon. But Damon is a little preoccupied with his own adventure. He asks a reluctant Bonnie to tell Alaric about the stone. Bonnie doesn't want to be the one to break Alaric's heart, but agrees to do it. But of course Alaric doesn't listen. He believes this vampire is his wife, and is going to help her no matter what. Why does his life have to be so depressing??

Damon's adventure turns into a revelation that makes an angry Damon even angrier. It starts off with him and Stefan stopping Valerie from driving off in Matt's car. They confront her after they realize that she was the one that killed Oscar and framed Damon. She doesn't tell them whole story at first, but tells them that Julian is evil. They go along with it and they all go to find Julian.

In the beginning of their adventure Stefan and Valerie don't get along. Stefan keeps making remarks about how she left him back on that day in the 19th century. They finally stop arguing after Valerie reveals the truth about what happened. Which if you don't remember, Valerie was brutally beaten while carrying Stefan's child by Julian. This brings them closer which I hate. If she gets in the way of him and Caroline a lot of fans are going to be upset. Including me.

They all go to a warehouse filled with caskets. After searching for awhile they finally find the only spelled shut coffin. Luckily Valerie's weird heretic magic becomes useful and they open it. They pour gasoline all over his body and she attempts to lit his body on fire. But of course Lily shows up and now she has the phoenix stone.

Enzo had given her the stone after Bonnie left it at the Salvatore house when the two of them had to run away from an angry Oscar. He then gives it to Lily and gives her an ultimatum. Him or Julian. She picks Julian and apologizes to a scornful Enzo. Enzo doesn't do well with rejection so we can expect to see him doing something destructive in the future. I can't wait.

Now that Lily has the stone she can put Julian's soul back in his body. Apparently he is one of the souls trapped in the little pink stone. She and her family of heretics bring Julain back to life. But not before Valerie tells Damon that Lily is the one that gave Ky the idea to link Elena's coma to Bonnie's life. This makes Damon furious and he immediately stops trying to be a good person for Elena.

Instead, Damon plans with Bonnie to hurt Lily the way she hurt him. He plans to murder Julian so his mother can feel the pain she caused for Damon to have. This episode ends with Julian waking up. I am so excited to see this character in modern times. We need another good villain.
