Healthy Grocery Shopping (old post)

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Yep, I finally went grocery shopping. I decided that it was time to stop mooching off my parents. AND I tried to actually shop healthy, which was really hard to tell you the truth! Usually when I grocery shop for myself I spend about 40 dollars every 2 weeks. This time I spent about 50, which wasn't bad considering I shopped healthy. My best advice? Shop in the Nutrition section in the grocery store. And the produce department. Vegetables aren't that expensive in reality. Here is my grocery list:
Cage Free Eggs
Ham
Dave's Killer Bread (IT WAS ON SALE FOR 4 DOLLARS)
mustard
salad (buy one get one free!)
zucchini
broccoli
celery
hummus
whole grain bagels
fat free cream cheese
Greekyogurt
milk
pita chips
whole grain tortilla soft tacos
organic fruit strips
apples
onion
ice crearm (my splurge)
dried mango strips
And that's it! All for 50 dollars. It's easy to eat healthy, you just have to look for sales and pick fat free or whole grain foods. I hope my list helps you on your next shopping adventure!
