The internet is such a wonderful device nowadays. Personally I’m on the internet more than I probably should be, and I know I’m not the only one! We can talk to friends at any instant, watch any movie, and even go shopping! We can also date, find someone to date, and join a dating site! Many people are torn on the idea of meeting someone they met online. Is it a risk you are willing to take? Here are some pros and cons to online dating, so you can decide for yourself!

Cons

Risky Business! You never know who could be at that computer! It could be someone trying to trick you for money, sex, or worse, your life! There are thousands and thousands of reports on online dating go wrong. Be careful!

Fate. Some people believe online dating is changing fate. They think that finding someone to share your life with should just happen. Searching for someone online is interrupting fate, which is what love is all about.

Scams. Some online dating sites are a bunch of lies and schemes! Some will take your information and use it for their advantage. Or they will make you pay ridiculous amounts of money without helping you find that person that gives you butterflies.

Pros

More Fish in the Sea. You have probably heard the saying ‘there are plenty of fish in the sea’. But how can we find our fishy love out of all these fish? The world is huge, so how are we supposed to go out and find someone? Online dating lets you skip all the fish you don’t want, and find a fish you normally wouldn't see.

More time! Looking for love can take up a lot of time, especially when you’re busy like me! Having other people find options for you, saves you time and gives you a chance to actually find a mate.

Help the socially awkward! Not all of us were gifted with the courage to ask for a number. A lot of us wait for someone else to ask us out. This does not get us very far! Having a computer screen between a possible match can give you a bit of courage.
