Meditation to me is healing mechanism. It may sound silly, but it has helped me heal in so many ways. I used to meditate when I had a small old and felt instantly better! I wasn't healed overnight, but it did help my healing process.
So basically, I am going to start meditating again! Woo! I am very excited, I miss it very much. Here are some tips on how to get in the mood of things for meditation!
- Find some relaxing music! I love love love the sound of rain and thunderstorms. I advise something nature related. If you close your eyes then you can imagine yourself surrounded by the beautiful nature. Or better yet, go to nature and meditate! Enjoy the real thing! If this is not possible for you (Like me, who lives in the Northwest and it's mostly cold here) then I suggest buying a nice relaxing album. Or if you are poor (also like me!) then listen to some music on youtube. They have a lot of choices to make.
- Research meditation and Buddhism. Knowledge is power. The more you know, the more you will want to meditate. I love learning where meditation came from and what the benefits are. And Buddhism is fascinating nonetheless!
- Set up a special meditation corner. I recommend having a designated place to meditate! All I did was put down some pillows and blankets to create a cute little section in my room. I need to add candles and maybe a small Buddha sculpture. I will post pictures when I succeed.
- Schedule Time. Set up a small part of your day just to meditation. Right it in your planner, calender, or your nifty smart phone. This way you won't caught up in your busy day.
