I didn't think it was possible to love Elijah even more, but this episode proved otherwise. He's so polite and elegant, and I fell in love with this character when he first premiered on Vampire Diaries. He just keeps getting better and better! My all time favorite vampire in anything. Alright, now that I've shared my obsession, let's hop into this episode.

There is still a looming prophecy hanging above these originals head. They finally fill Hayley in on this prophecy but she wants proof from the witch with this devastating vision. So, Lucien takes Klaus to where this witch is staying. But she's gone, and Lucien assumes that someone must have taken her. 

Back in the quarter, a confused Marcel finds a suit waiting for him. Tristan calls him and tells him that he wants Marcel to be one of them. He thinks Marcel has what it takes to be a ruler. He invites Marcel to a gala hosted by the Stricts (basically the vampire government). Marcel decides to go to this Gala, as well as Elijah and Hayley.

At the Gala everyone is staring at Elijah. Apparently Elijah sired most of these Stricts, because he always picked smart people who wanted to change the world. So naturally most of his sired line are part of this weird vampire government. It's an awesome moment because for once Elijah is seemed powerful and god-like, instead of the usual arrogant Klaus. Who of course shows up in the middle of the Gala with Lucien, drunk as skunks. 

This of course disturbs the elegant, quiet Gala but luckily Elijah calmly sends Klaus home, without any problems. Which was ultimately surprising, but it was all Klaus' plan. He and Lucien went to the Gala to distract all these vampire snobs so Freya can sneak in and steal the witch with all the dangerous visions. But this witch wasn't kidnapped, she went willing. She wants to be on the winning team, so she went to Tristan's side. But after several failed attempts, Freya finally succeeds in luring this witch back.

We find out that this gala is more of an initiation for Marcel. They think Marcel has what it takes to become one of the Stricts. To become one of these 'Stricts' Marcel has to find the vampire that stole his daylight ring and fight to get it back. Even if he finds this ring, he doesn't have a great chance against a vampire hundrerds of years older than him. 

But to everyone's surprise he succeeds. He learns that the vampire that stole his ring only feeds on vampires in combat. So before he confronts his ring thief, he has Hayley bite him to infect his with her venomous wolf bite. So when the vampire bites Marcel during combat, he becomes infected with the wolf venom. He becomes weak and Marcel brings him down and steals his ring back. But Marcel refuses to kill him. He tells Tristan and the other Stricts that he won't play their games anymore, and won't kill him. Tristan kills this infected vampire instead, and is impressed with Marcel's refusal. Marcel has now proved himself to the Stricts. 

At the end of this episode they all sit with the witch and hold hands to see the visions of their families'doomed prophecy. We see a bunch of evil glimpses of their destruction before the witch becomes deathly ill. We find out she was poisoned by Aurora, who is now skipping around town, a creepy smile on her face.

I loved the whole gala scene this episode. I'm not surprised Marcel proved himself, he deserves to earn everyone's respect. I'm still unsure on who the bad guy is. But I know Aurora is going to bring destruction now that she's in New Orleans.

The Originals Season 3 Episode 3 Review/Recap

In the beginning of this episode I was like 99 % Lucien was a murdering psychopath. This may still be true, but now I'm not so sure if he killed all those victims in the Quarter. Even though he did cut his mouth like the victims in the first episode, turns out there may be more of a story behind this bloody smile.

Back in the 11th century, the vampires and Lucien are having a great time. Lucien is still helping them keep their cover while they live at the castle (I think it's a castle anyway). But Lucien is in love with
Aurora, Tristan's sister. Tristan and Aurora's father is the ruler of this kingdom, so this is a huge problem for Lucien because he's just a poor little peasant. He tells Klaus of his love over Aurora, and asks him to deliver a letter to her. Apparently when Aurora and Lucien were much younger they were good friends so this letter won't be totally out of the blue. But Klaus lies to Lucien and tells him Aurora won't accept his letter. Even though Klaus never even attempted to hand it over.

Klaus is also keeping a dirty little secret, he's also in love with Aurora. They've been sleeping together for a while now, and Klaus never mentions this to Lucien. But of course Lucien walks in on them when they are in each other's arms. He's heart broken. Things get even more intense when Tristan walks in. Klaus is already gone, making it look like Tristan and Aurora were the ones fondling with each other. He takes him away and punishes him severely and whips him repeatedly.

But Klaus tries to stop Tristan from whipping his friend anymore and attempts to plead with him. Tristan denies his request and tells Klaus that he knows all their family secrets. He knows they are all beasts of the night. With this new information Klaus threatens him, telling him he will basically murder him if he doesn't stop whipping Lucien. But Tristan has already planned for this. He informs Klaus that if Tristan is killed, there are people ready to tell all of the Michelson's secrets.

So Klaus can't do anything for his friend, but does sneak in when Tristan isn't in the dungeon with Lucien. He releases Lucien and heals him with his blood. Lucien stupidly goes after Tristan, in a blind rage. He finds him and attempts to kill Tristan, but Tristan's guard stabs the heartbroken servant, killing him almost instantly. Afterwards, while Klaus is about to bury Lucien, Lucien wakes up, now a vampire. Making Lucien Klaus' first vampire he sired.

Now that we have information about Lucien's past, he doesn't look so guilty. Back in modern times Lucien is taking into custody and questioned by the police. Lucien forces the officer questioning him to let him talk to Camille, alone. Camille is a little terrified but goes into the questioning room anyway. This is where Lucien tells his story and attempts to prove his innocence. He tells her that he didn't kill any of those humans, and that someone is trying to make it look like he did. He points the finger at Tristan, and now nobody knows who the real murderer is.

Tristan finally shows up in this episode when Elijah finds him. Elijah only finds where he's hiding when Tristan's little minion, Aya shows up and takes Marcel. We learn that Elijah sired both Tristan and Aya. Tristan explains to Elijah that their vampire line is at risk, that they can't trust anyone. Because there's a weapon that can kill an original out in the world. He also tells him that he shouldn't even trust Klaus. Because even though Klaus believes family is important, he has an extreme anger problem. Who knows if one day he'll crack and kill Elijah to save himself? Elijah calmly listens but doesn't do anything drastic except treat Marcel like a child. This doesn't seem like a big deal but Marcel takes it the wrong way and starts to plan his demise. Poor Marcel, his feelings were hurt. Vampires can be so sensitive.

This entire episode Klaus is trying to find Lucien to murder him. Big surprise there, Klaus always thinks the solution to any problem is murder. But when he finally reaches Lucien he listens to what he has to say. Klaus doesn't believe him entirely about not killing those people, but he stops his murdering quest. Klaus goes back to his home and tells Elijah more about the prophecy about them turning against each other. Klaus tells Elijah in a heartfelt moment that no matter how angry they are at each other, Klaus will never kill Elijah. Unfortunately Elijah is still pissed about everything that happened with Hayley, so they don't make up, but at least we saw a sweet side of Klaus for once.

I'm not sure who the murderer is, but I don't think it's Lucien anymore. After learning of his past, I have sympathy for this character. Who do you think is the murderer in New Orleans?

The Originals Season 3 Episode 2 Review/Recap: Klaus vs. Hayley

This episode starts off with Davina still imprisoning Hayley on the full moon. Which is not cool Davina, not cool. We all know that the full moon is the only time Hayley can see her daughter. Thanks to Klaus, who helped (with somewhat good intentions) Dahlia cursed her entire pack. But Davina has a deal to make with Hayley that could benefit both their lives. Davina tells Hayley that if she kills the witch that's against Davina as the regent of the French Quarter (basically the leader of the witches), she'll give her and her pack their lives back. Davina uses her powers on a candle that when it is lit, Hayley and her pack can stay human. A temporary solution to the very bad situation our wolves are in. Hayley agrees to these terms, but not without scaring the daylights out of Davina. When she frees Hayley, Hayley holds a knife up to her throat, telling her if she doesn't see her baby on the only day she's allowed to, she'll kill her. She then runs off to kill the witch Davina despises.

While Hayley is trying to win her freedom back, Elijah is still trying to find her. Jackson shows up to help find Hayley, and they team up. I love Jackson but Elijah and Hayley will always be in my heart. I may be somewhat biased since Elijah is my favorite. Anyway, The rescuers first go to Klaus, confronting him about Lucien. They don't trust Lucien (with good reason) and believe he's behind her kidnapping. Klaus of course doesn't help, making Elijah angry. He tells Klaus that if anything happens to Hayley, Klaus will tell Hope when she's older about how Klaus didn't help. This really gets to Klaus, showing again how Hope is his one greatest weakness.

The two rescuers go to Lucien's apartment to confront him. Turns out Lucien's only behind the hunters in the forest that are after her pack. When Elijah tries to reason with him, Lucien, taking after Klaus, doesn't comply. He believes he's untouchable since only his 'line' of vampires can enter his apartment. But Jackson comes behind Elijah and attacks Lucien. He gives him a deadly venomous bite, which we all know will kill a vampire. Before the heroes leave Lucien tells Elijah that Tristan has an object that can kill an original. Tristan is the vampire we saw in the last episode when the family pretended to be royals. Apparently he's alive and kicking, meaning he's immortal. I can't wait to see what really happened all those years ago. Later in the episode Fraya uses her magic to see if what Lucien says is true. Turns out he was being honest, and now there is something out there that can kill an original.

When Elijah and Jackson leave, Lucien gets a call from Klaus. Klaus tells him he needs him to stop murdering people. Although Klaus isn't really one to talk about murdering people, he wants to keep the peace in New Orleans. The humans and supernaturals have a somewhat truce and Klaus wants to keep this truce, especially for his daughter. Lucien says no, even though Klaus says this is the only way he will give him his blood to cure him. But Lucien doesn't need his blood. He has a secret stash of Klaus' blood along with other secret items. This vampire is prepared.

Back with our favorite hybrid, Hayley is on the hunt for the witch. She quickly kills her victim but then other witches show up. But Hayley is a bad ass and murders a dozen of these witches even with them using their powers to try and weaken her. This defiantly will have some repercussions later on but Hayley doesn't care. She did what Devina wanted and now she can finally see her daughter. She goes to their house, to find her daughter and face Klaus.

When Hayley confronts Klaus it turns into a huge battle. It is one of my favorite scenes from this entire show. It is so heartbreaking, especially the ending of their fight. Klaus stops fighting back when Hope walks in on them fighting. Hayley turns around and goes to her daughter. Angry at Klaus for cursing her and her entire pack, she moves in with Jackson into an apartment across the street. Taking her daughter with her. Klaus is close enough to protect hope, but is still heartbroken he doesn't get to see her. But it really is all his fault, and he needs to take responsibility for his actions. But Klaus won't, but thankfully Elijah is there to convince him to let Hayley and Hope go.

The episode ends with the originals old 'friends Tristan and Aurora, sword fighting. Tristan is keeping his sister trapped to keep her safe. I think maybe she's a vampire and he's trying to find a cure for her. Meaning he isn't a vampire, but still immortal? So many questions! Tristan leaves his sister and heads off to New Orleans. Meaning episode 3 is going to be intense and insane!
 

The Originals Season 3 Premiere Review/Recap

When the Original vampires showed up on Vampire Diaries I was immediately intrigued. We already had vampires that were hundreds of years old, which is amazing. But then the thousand year old vampires showed up and stole the show.

Although this show is a spin off of our beloved Vampire Diaries series, it really has become it's own show. Several people I know haven't even seen Vampire Diaries but watch the Originals regularly. Even though both should be watched together since both are amazing shows. I am so excited this show is doing so well, and season 3 is going to be heart breaker, I can already tell.

Season 3 begins with the aftermath of a dramatic Season 2. Season 2 ended with darling baby hope in her father's arms. But all of Klaus's actions to have his daughter back come with consequences. Even if his actions were for a good reason.

Elijah and Klaus aren't talking. This isn't the first time there's tension between the two. And you guessed it, it's all Klaus's fault. At the end of Season 2 Hayley and her pack were cursed by Dahlia with the help of Klaus. Instead of being wolves once a month like the original werewolf curse, Hayley and her pack are now only humans once a month, the opposite of the original curse. And since Elijah's love for Hayley is undeniable we can understand why he's a little angry at Klaus.

The show also goes back and forth between modern times and the beginning of the vampire curse. Which is intriguing to watch because these confident powerful vampires are vulnerable in the beginning. In this flashback the vampire family are all together, feeding and murdering groups of people. Although Finn and Cole believe they would be safer from Mikael (their evil father who helped curse them) if they separate. However an opportunity presents itself when they murder five noble people in a carriage. They decide to stick together and pretend to be these people with the help of the only survivor.  This survivor is named Lucien and becomes a very important character later on.

They go to the victims' original destination, an important party with important people. Their plan works and people believe they are who they say they are. One lady Klaus is attracted to, but we don't see anything happen there. We only see her as a vampire hundreds of years later in modern times, receiving a letter and turning angry at the words.

Back in modern times Klaus, as uncaring as he tries to seem, is seeing Camille for help. Camille is being Klaus's therapist. Which she has already been for quite some while, but now Camille insists on only having a professional relationship with Klaus. She even rejects to go to his art gallery, although shows up anyway, suspecting Klaus of a civilian murder.

Camille and Finn help the police with a murder case regarding the dead civilian.  The victim is hung up and their mouth is cut open (resembling the joker in my opinion). A couple days later another victim is found the same way as the first murder. Everyone suspects Klaus, with good reason. But for once it isn't Klaus.

While Klaus is Camille's therapy patient, Elijah is trying to help poor Hayley with the curse. Every full moon when Hayley turns back into a human Elijah is waiting with food and her daughter. Can Elijah get more sweet? I swear he is the opposite of his brother. While Elijah is waiting for Hayley, hunters show up, saying that they are taking the land. They have been hunting wolves in the forests. Elijah isn't too keen on this advancement and kills them all on the spot. Then the rest of the episode he searches for the hunters to kill them, hoping to keep Hayley safe.

Lucien, the man from the flashbacks that helped the originals portray nobles, arrives in New Orleans to warn Klaus. He brings along a cipher named Alexis to convince Klaus that he is in danger. Klaus doesn't believe anything they say until Alexis shows him what she has seen. We think Lucien is on our side until we see him in another scene cutting his mouth like the two victims were cut. Telling us he is the murderer of the civilians.

This episode ends with Davina stealing away Hayley on the full moon, telling her that she is trapped so that she can help Davina. Davina needs help because although she is the leader of the witches in New Orleans, they loathe her and want to remove her from power. So she steals Hayley to hopefully save her power. Strange, because Davina refused to help with Hayley's curse when asked earlier in the episode. I hope this means they can negotiate and help each other.

Did you enjoy this season premiere? There was a lot of blood, murder, and deceit. But this show wouldn't be the Originals without it. I really hope Klaus is turning into a better vampire, but we will have to wait and see.
